Four-Day Racing and Tuning Clinic in Sunny Florida
LEARN TO RACE OR RACE BETTER AND GO-FOR-THE-GOLD!
Because our original location for this event is now closed because of damage caused by Hurricane Irma, we have moved it to our Ft. Myers Beach based in the Gulf of Mexico, with great sailing in warm waters where dolphins and manatees play.
At Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Ft. Myers Beach
This remarkable four-day sailboat racing course for sailors who want to win is hosted by America’s Cup and Olympic racer, Steve Colgate – inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame in October 2015. This sail racing course is coached by four veteran Offshore Performance Race Week coaches, led by Mumm Worlds Champion, Bobby Brooks. In this Florida sailing clinic, you experience non-stop racing instruction aboard high performance Colgate 26 keelboats, mornings and afternoons, with shore seminars, parties, regattas and, yes, some time to relax and explore Southwest Florida’s many attractions.
The Win-Win Team
Steve Colgate is with you throughout the four-day sailboat racing course, assisting the coaching team and running the race committee boat. Doris Colgate is by his side, taking photographs of your sailboat races for you to have later on. All of the expert, and very personable coaches go beyond the call in working with every participant in this Florida sailing clinic. They are with you throughout the day, starting with morning seminars, at the docks, with you on the boats in morning sailing sessions, during lunch seminars, back on the water with you on the boats in afternoon sailing sessions, in recaps at the end of the day, and then evening events. The knowledge they provide and their dedication to your learning process are truly “priceless!”
This special week is for those who already race sailboats and want to get that winning advantage over the competition back home; and for knowledgeable, experienced sailors who want to get into racing. You should have competitive desires and be physically fit. The Colgate 26s are easy, fast, responsive and fun to sail – with lots of adjustments you can transfer to your boats back home. You are on the water morning and afternoon, with non-stop boat and sail handling drills, lots of practice starts and lots of short races plus a round-the-island race.
