Inaugural Doris Colgate Sailing Clinic & Cup Hosted by Edison Sailing Center
Edison Sailing Center in Fort Myers, Fla. created the inaugural Doris Colgate Clinic & Cup and hosted the event at its Center November 27 to 29, 2015. Doris Colgate is President & CEO of Offshore Sailing School based in Fort Myers and is a leader in the sailing industry. The purpose of this annual event is to “train, empower and encourage girls and women to take the helm, and become comfortable competitors in the sailing world.” Read more . . .
Steve Colgate Inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame
On October 4, 2015 at the Bay Head Yacht Club in Bay Head, NJ, Offshore Sailing School’s founder and chairman was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame. He shared this honor with just five other members of sailing’s significant contributors, including two Olympic medalists. The primary mission of the National Sailing Hall of Fame is to preserve and share the legacy of passionate contributors to the sport.

Cruising World Magazine Profiles Steve and Doris Colgate
“A Legacy of Learning” is the title of a four-page feature published in the October 2015 issue of Cruising World magazine, a long-time favorite of sailors worldwide. Writer Elaine Lembo, describes the Colgates as “a dynamic, youthful duo whose game-changing accomplishments, unique personal bests and diverse generosity would put them at the top of the Fortune 500 of Sailing, if such a list existed.”

Wounded Veterans Adaptive Sailing Program Hosted by Offshore
This summer, Offshore Sailing School hosted a training session and regatta for the Wounded Veterans Adaptive Sailing Program at its North Cove Sailing School in Battery Park City, New York City and at the Offshore Sailing School base on Ft. When we announced we would be sending our colorful mainsails with the white dolphins on them to our newest location – North Cove Marina at Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan – we got everyone’s attention. Those gorgeous sails also carry The Beaches of Ft. Myers and Sanibel logo, representing the Lee County Visitors and Convention Bureau. Offshore Sailing School Adds Fifty Feet of Sheer Cruising Fun to Its British Virgin Islands Fleet
Effective July 1, 2015 Live Aboard Cruising and Fast Track to Cruising Courses in the British Virgin Islands, will be taught on a Moorings 50.5 – which ensures confident cruising on monohulls anywhere in the Moorings or Sunsail charter world. For those who prefer to “sail flat,” the school also teaches on a wide range of power and sail catamarans out of The Moorings base on Tortola. For more information, call 888-454-7015.
Offshore Sailing School Opens New Branch at Brookfield Place in Battery Park City
New York City has a new premier sailing school and club in North Cove Marina, Battery Park City, The school officially opened on May 23, offering Learn to Sail and Performance Sailing courses, and membership in the North Cove Sailing Club – sailing on award-winning Colgate 26 sailboats for school and club members. Celebrity Pro-Am Regatta Raises $10,000 for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Four celebrity sailors with Olympic medals, America’s Cup honors and World Championships to their names, vied for line honors in a fun-filled two-day regatta hosted by Offshore Sailing School at its Ft. Myers Beach, Florida campus. More than 50 sailors and guests participated, bringing Offshore Sailing School’s total cash contribution to LLS to more than $135,000. To view full details click here.
Sailing for a Cause Benefits American Heart Association and Children’s Hospital
On January 11, 2015 members of Ft. Myers based, Impact Initiative, joined Offshore Sailing School for a sailing adventure fundraiser. Steve and Doris Colgate, both II members are also members of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women and Red Tie for Men. The half-day Sailing for a Cause event focused on raising money for AHA and the Golisano Southwest Florida Children’s Hospital now under construction. To view full details click here.
