3-Day Learn to Sail OSS 101

Combine three full days of sailing lessons Monday through Wednesday with a six day stay combining a rewarding learning vacation with time to relax and explore. During the Learn to Sail OSS 101 course you learn the skills to earn US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification on Offshore Sailing School’s responsive, fun-to-sail Colgate 26 sailboats.

Thursday and Friday you are reserved for you to enjoy more activities on this beautiful Caribbean getaway. Fast Track to Live Aboard Cruising® OSS 101/103/104 and 114

Combine two days of the Learn to Sail OSS 101 course with five days on a beautiful big catamaran or monohull. You stay at the resort for three nights, then hop aboard a 43′ to 50′ sailing yacht waiting for you in the Scrub Island Marina. Over the next five days you live aboard while sailing through the islands, learning to cruise in anticipation of earning US Sailing Bareboat Cruising certification.

Sleep Ashore Bareboat Charter Course OSS 103/104 and 114

Another option is to spend your nights ashore in the air-conditioned comfort of Scrub Island Resort’s gorgeous rooms or suites while learning the same sailboat cruising skills. Each night of this 8-day Fast Track to Cruising course, you return to the Scrub Island Marina late afternoons after a full day of sailing lessons and boat handling drills. How to Get to Scrub Island Via Commercial Airlines

The quickest way to get to the island is to fly into the Terrence B. Lettsome (EIS) airport on Beef Island, Tortola from Miami, FL or San Juan, Puerto. American Airlines offers direct flights from Miami (MIA) to Beef Island (EIS) on Tortola, BVI. Many major airlines from the U.S. also connect in San Juan to Seaborne, Cape Air, Liat, for the short flight to Beef Island.

Your last, and fun leg, is a five-minute taxi ride to the dock at Trellis Bay where the resort’s private water taxi picks you up for the 10-minute scenic ride to the resort. (Note: We need your arrival time at the airport to ensure someone is waiting for you outside terminal, after you get your baggage). You can also fly into St. Thomas on several direct flights from the United States, then take a 45-minute ferry to the Customs Office in Road Town on Tortola, and another 30-40 minute taxi ride to Trellis Bay for the 10-minute ferry to Scrub Island.

Scrub Island Resort also offers an exclusive private charter flight with Fly The Whale, offering seamless connection between San Juan International Airport (SJU) and Beef Island, Tortola (EIS) where you can skip security lines and breeze through customs with personal service. This direct service is available from November through April. Or you can travel directly to the resort from St. Thomas via Dolphin Water Taxi.
