PERFORMANCE RACE WEEK WITH NORTH U. AND OFFSHORE SAILING SCHOOL — OSS 109

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS IN 2020! THE BEST OF THE BEST SAILBOAT RACE-TRAINING!

2020 DATES ARE APRIL 19-25 — SURE TO BE A SOLD OUT EVENT!

Performance Race Week with North U. and Offshore Sailing School is a once-a-year annual event, that brings racing sailors back year after year. At the Meet and Greet party for the 2019 19th Race Week, one sailor after another said it was their 2nd, 3rd, 4th . . . all the way up to 7th time participating. Why? Because you never stop learning and these weeks are so rewarding, and fun! Check out this Behind-the-Scenes video from our 2019 Performance Sailing Race Week.

A NEW LOCATION AND TONS OF EVENTS FOR SAILORS AND GUESTS

The 2020 Performance Race Week and Fast Track to Performance Sailing which starts three days earlier, will be at the lovely Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Just a half-hour drive from Southwest International Airport (RSW), this new location is perfect for celebrating the 20th anniversary of Performance Race Week! Our fleet of 10 Colgate 26 sailboats are steps away from the main resort entrance, lined up in the marina. A short sail around the corner, and you’re in the Gulf of Mexico with lots of open water. That’s just one of the many reasons why the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society chose Offshore Sailing School at Pink Shell Beach Resort for its 2019 Leukemia Cup Regatta Fantasy Sail Weekend!

EXCITING RACING INSTRUCTION AND MORE EVENTS THAN EVER INCLUDED IN YOUR RACE WEEK PACKAGE

Plan to arrive Sunday, April 18, in time for a casual Meet and Greet party, followed by dinner for all. Breakfast (included) each morning begins at 7:30 a.m. in Jack’s restaurant at the resort. Racing instruction starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. each morning, with lunch seminars (box lunches included) and aprés sail video recaps with libations available Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, before you head to dinner on own. On Wednesday, everyone gathers on the beach for a sumptuous Island Cookout (shoes optional). Saturday is Regatta Day, with races morning and afternoon for 20th anniversary commemorative trophies and gifts for all participants, awarded at the Gala 20th Anniversary Awards Dinner! On the nights you are free, walk or take the complimentary trolley from the resort entrance to the hip and happening town of Ft. Myers Beach, with many sidewalk tiki bars, casual streetside “grab-n-go treats, to bistros on the beach offering the freshest, local seafood, salads and chops. Don’t miss the quaint and quirky boutiques.

ABOUT BILL GLADSTONE

Bill Gladstone is the Director of Education for North U., and creator of the North U Tactics and Trim Seminars, books and CDs. He has been teaching sailing and racing since 1973 and raced on everything from dinghies to fifty footers, ponds to oceans, foredeck to helm. Graduates of Bill’s programs are winning sailboat races in fleets worldwide. Bill is with you throughout the week — running seminars each day, video-recaps each evening, tweaking your knowledge to match the skills you get on the race course from Offshore Sailing School’s expert racing faculty and guest coaches. Here he is, heading up the mast of one of our cruising boats to get videos for the evening recaps.

“I loved Race Week. Our crew all felt as if we learned more than we ever dreamed we would. We(47)_1.13C_CeceFowler_andTeam_700x465 conquered fears, had questions answered and became more confident, tactically savvy sailors. Personally, the week surpassed my expectations; I’ll be recommending it to others regularly. Thanks especially to the Offshore team who worked selflessly and seamlessly to make sure we had everything we needed. And as for our coach – Linda, Susan, Lisa and I felt were the luckiest of all, but then in talking to others I think most everyone had similar experiences.”

Here’s what our Performance Race Week participants have to say:

This has been a great learning experience and it delivers. With the same skipper (back home) we never finished better than 4th. Yesterday we got a second and 2 firsts!

John Breyfogle – Countersville, AL

I’ve attended many courses in 37 years as a Navy pilot and airline pilot. This course and particularly the Offshore instructor were outstanding.

Tom Corboy – Annapolis, MD

If you love to go fast and strive to be better, you can’t bet the combination of owning your own Colgate 26 and taking the Performance and Racing classes. They are top notch instructors.

Phil Weintraub – Hopewell Junction, NY

I attended Performance Race Week with Bill Gladstone. I was not comfortable taking the helm during a race until I attended this camp. I have since become quite confident in my driving skills and feel very competitive with the rest of the fleet – hence 3rd place finish in the Marblehead NOODS!

Shawna Gauthier – Marblehead, MA

The printed curriculum looked great but it was even more power-packed than I expected. I have waked away with more knowledge and experience than I ever expected. This was a total success.

Diana Augsburger – Kenmore, NY

Race Week was absolutely the BEST!!! Many thanks for a wonderful and really educational week. I can’t believe how much I learned, and I loved meeting all the other participants and, of course, our coach.

Kim Frisbie – Ft. Washington, PA

I loved Race Week. Our crew all felt as if we learned more than we ever dreamed we would. We conquered fears, had questions answered and became more confident, tactically savvy sailors. Personally, the week so far surpassed my expectations; I’ll be recommending it to others regularly. Thanks especially to the Captiva team who worked selflessly and seamlessly to make sure we had everything we needed. And as for our coach – Linda, Susan, Lisa and I felt were the luckiest of all, but then in talking to others I think most everyone had similar experiences.

Cece Fowler – Houston, TX

I couldn’t possibly convey how much fun I had this week. Bill Gladstone is simply one of the most personable yet commanding teachers I could imagine. Our team’s learning curve was substantial, yet we managed to win one of the practice races prior to the regatta and we got several fifth place finishes and a third. The entire week has to be one of the most memorable in my life.

Tim Cordle – Winter Park, FL
