Two-Day Learn to Sail Getaway

Find out why sailors have more fun

Sailing is exhilarating and peaceful. It gives you freedom and opens a world of new travel opportunities. This two-day introduction to sailing is a great way to test the waters before taking a regular Learn to Sail course and gain Certification. On this mini-vacation, you'll get started in the basics of sailing with time to relax and enjoy other activities too.

Choose any two days you like and learn at a great resort!

Join us on the Chesapeake at The Inn at Perry Cabin; or at one of our southwest Florida destinations – South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island or Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa on Ft. Myers Beach. You'll enjoy six hours of hands-on learning on a sleek Colgate 26 over two days (with half-days free to enjoy other activities at the resort).

Plan to arrive the evening before and sleep in

Your first sailing session starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. The next day your sailing session is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving you that afternoon to relax or start your journey home.

Depending on the location you choose you'll find maritime and shell museums, great shopping and dining, jogging paths, shelling, kayaking, bicycling, fishing, tennis, golf and a whole lot more available right outside your hotel room door or close by. Topped by beautiful sandy beaches or waterfront vists, wonderful pools, rejuvenating spas and exercise facilities –you won't find learning and relaxing better than this.

An introduction to sailing on a sleek Colgate 26 daysailer

Along with safety procedures, you'll learn a lot about sailing daysailers and (we hope) decide to pursue the sailing lifetsyle with our regular Learn to Sail course very soon. Here's what you'll cover with an expert Offshore Sailing School instructor on your two-day getaway:

  • How to leave a dock and bring the boat back in
  • How to make a sailboat go where you want it to go
  • How to steer and be part of the crew
  • How to find wind direction and trim sails to use that wind
  • How to tie some of the most used knots
