FAMILY BAREBOAT CRUISING PREPARATION
This shore-based vacation is available at two top Florida destinations (Captiva Island and Ft. Myers Beach). Your five-night stay ashore in a beautifully appointed two-bedroom unit overlooking the water provides plenty of instruction and time for local activities. You sail and learn half a day each day in comprehensive on-water sessions, culminating in a practice cruise without the instructor aboard. On-water sessions are private; morning classroom sessions ashore may have other students participating. While we don't take kids as young as those shown in the photo above, once Mom and Dad and the rest of the family learn, sailing together is a special adventure for all.
Typical Five-Day Family Bareboat Cruising Preparation Package:
- Two copies of Steve and Doris Colgate’s comprehensive Fast Track to Cruising book published by McGraw-Hill
- Colgate Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Cruising Certification for all after testing (Day Sailing or Basic Keelboat Certification is a pre-requisite, but may be “challenged” by any family members who have basic sailing experience)
- Diplomas and logbooks or log pages if you already have one from a previous course
- Five nights accommodations at the resort where you have chosen to learn
- Practice cruise without the instructor aboard at course end
- Graduation celebration
