Bring your big boat skills back to life

If you've been a land-locked cruising sailor, ready to get out there and take the helm again, this two-day getaway will bring it all back in spades.

Get back in bareboat charter mode

You'll spend 14 hours on the water with an expert instructor, renewing your confidence and skills in handling a cruising sailboat in the 43' to 49' range. And you'll have fun!

What a thrill to feel the wind in your hair again, the power of a big yacht in your control as you tack and jibe, run before the wind and beat to windward with the sails trimmed smartly. You'll get plenty of time to practice docking and anchoring, and regain your knowledge of handling the boat in windy and big waves conditions.

All you need is two days

The rest is in our hands. This course is available most weekends and some weekdays at all locations where we teach cruising courses. Plan to arrive Friday afternoon and start your course Saturday morning. You'll sail 8 hours on Saturday with a break for lunch ashore or on the hook. Then six hours on Sunday starting at 8 a.m. both days.

And prior cruising boat certification or equivalent skills

This is a refresher for those who haven't been sailing in a while. You will need prior big boat sailing experience on boats over 36 feet in length. No questions are asked if you have Colgate Sailing or US SAILING Bareboat Cruising certification. Our sailing advisors will help you determine if you have enough prior cruising boat experience.

Consider a refresher before your next charter

If you are planning a charter in the British Virgin Islands but feel a bit rusty, we'll be happy to set up a two-day refresher prior to the start of your charter.

Tuition is $595 per person, less 10% for two or more signing up together
