Enjoy great Battery Park City sailing, steps from your office and home, with unlimited access, seven days a week, on our fleet of Colgate 26 sailboats. Fun, safe and exciting to sail, the Colgate 26 is the boat of choice for training plebes at the U.S. Naval Academy and cadets at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. A Fun Sailing Club for Avid Sailors
Join the Colgate Offshore Sailing Club – East at North Cove Marina and enjoy carefree sailing with active adventurers who share your passion for sustainable, green wind-driven activities in New York Harbor. If you are not yet a sailor, it takes just two rewarding days to gain confidence, achieve US Sailing certification and set sail with the Club. If you are already a sailor, welcome aboard! If your competence level is equal to those gained through these courses, you may submit a sailing resume for review, to be approved by North Cove Sailing School management, or go for an instructional evaluation sail at a cost of $250 per person, minimum two hours.

If you are not yet a sailor, take a 2-day Accelerated weekend Learn to SAil Course course and you’re ready for fun sailing with the club in New York Harbor. If you already have strong basic sailing skills, hold US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification and can handle a 26′ sailboat on all points of sail, you’re ready for the two-day Race Ready Course. The 2016 sailing season is May through October, with off-season socials and winter sailing in Florida and the Caribbean. Membership dues are discounted after June 30, 2016 for the reamining months in the season.
2016 Annual Memberships – April-October Sailing
- Initiation Fee – $250 per person is waived
- Crew Membership – $1850, deduct $100 per person for 2 or more from same household
- Skipper Membership – $2150, deduct $200 per person for 2 or more fro same household
- If 2 or more joining from same household and one is Skipper and others are Crew, deduct $100 from each of the individual dues above
- Refundable Security Deposit – $300 per person due with final payment
- New York City tax, currently 8.875%, is required with all club dues payments
Discounted Memberships Available – July 1, 2016 for Remaining Months in Season
Skipper membership allows you to skipper a club Colgate 26. For new members to qualify, a written test and one-hour on-water evaluation are required. Crew Membership allows you to sail with other club members as crew without skipper responsibilities. Pre-requisite for membership is the 2-Day Weekend Accelerated Learn to Sail Course or equivalent experience, or the 2-day Race Ready Sailing Course if you can handle a 26′ sailboat on all points of sail. Tuitions for these two courses are $590 per person, $490 for two or more signing up to take the course together.

Sailing Area and Rules: Sailing areas for NCSC members is in those waters south of the George Washington Bridge and north of the Verrazano Bridge, with certain other restrictions outlined in the Membership Agreement. Use of NCSC vessels is in half-day periods mornings and afternoons, plus evenings as outlined in the Agreement. Advanced reservations are required for a spot on a boat each time you want to sail, maximum five per boat. Sailing is shared with other club members on each boat. All Offshore Sailing School graduates applying for or renewing membership must sign the North Cove Sailing agreement and a waiver each year.
