How to get to the New York Sailing Club

Club headquarters at Liberty landing Marina, Jersey City, New Jersey

Liberty Landing Marina is located in Liberty State Park and is in one of the most protected harbors from wind and waves on the Hudson. Just north of the marina is the heart of Jersey City, headquarters to some of the world's largest companies and booming with new condo developments. A Hyatt Regency and other hotels and busy ferry service to several points from Manhattan attract the business world to this location.

Our New Jersey-New York Sailing Club and Offshore Sailing School New Jersey headquarters are in the red lightship at the east end of Liberty Landing Marina, right near where the ferry from Manhattan leaves you off. You can't miss it!

If you are flying in: Newark International (EWR) is about 20 minutes by taxi or car.

By car in New Jersey: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 14B, Jersey City/Liberty State Park. Keep left after the toll, at first stop sign turn left onto Bayview Avenue. Follow Bayview down hill and straight ahead at the traffic circle to Liberty State Park. When you enter Liberty State Park, Bayview turns into Morris Pesin Drive. Turn left on Freedom Way, go to end, take a right and immediate left into parking lot for Liberty Landing Marina (there is a parking fee).

By car from Manhattan: Take Holland Tunnel from Lower Manhattan to New Jersey; follow signs for New Jersey Turnpike. Take New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 14B, then follow directions above.

By water Taxi from Manhattan: Ferry service direct to Liberty Landing Marina departs and returns from the White Tent covered barge just north of North Cove in lower Manhattan, near the World Financial Center. Take the yellow Liberty State Park Ferry (“The Little Lady”) to Liberty Landing Marina. Ferry service starts at 8:45 a.m.; the last Liberty Landing pickup is 8:30 p.m. weekdays and 9:00 p.m. weekends – ferry prices and schedules change, please check before you go. Harbor events can also disrupt the ferry schedule; call 201-985-8000 or see www.libertylandingmarina.com for departure times and schedules. Several other ferries leave from North Cove, make sure you are on the “Liberty State Park Ferry.”

By subway to Manhattan ferry dock: Many subway lines get close to the water taxi leaving the Financial Center for Liberty Landing Marina. The best point of reference is the northeast corner of ground zero where there is a large Path train entrance. For the Red LIne (1,2,3 trains) and the Blue Line (A,C,E trains), go to the Chambers Street stop. When you exit, ground zero should be right there or a bit south on Church Street. For the Brown Line (J,M.A) and Green Line (4,5) go to the Fulton Street stop; exit and go west on Fulton Street toward ground zero. The Yellow Line (Q,R,W) goes to the City Hall stop, a short walk down Broadway, then a right on Vesey for one block to ground zero. At the NE corner (Vesey and Chambers), there is a pedestrian walkway. Go west along the northern border of ground zero, over a pedestrian overpass; keep the Financial Center to your immediate left and walk to the Hudson River. Your ferry stop is a white floating tent at the ferry terminal, just to the right. This walk is at most 20 minutes.
