If you were watching the tribute to Walter Cronkite on CBS’s 60 Minutes January 19, 2009 – you saw a lot of sailing shots interspersed with stories on his political, national and world coverage. You might have heard him exclaim in the final minutes of the show – “It’s glorious!”
Cronkite was sailing a very big yacht and he was well on in his years – long past the time when he owned and skippered his own lovely cruising boat. But the sound of the wind, the feel of the helm, shush of the water against the hull never left him.
